About Gujarat
Gujarat is one of the most prosperous and industralised state of India. Located at the western most tip, it borders the Indian states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Its capital, Gandhinagar is a planned city and is located near Ahmedabad, the former state capital and the current commercial center of Gujarat. Surat is a Major industrial city located in south Gujarat, also known as the Diamond city.
Climate: There are three main seasons; Summer, Monsoon and Winter. Average temperature in summer varies from 23oC to 43oC; in winter it is in the range of 15oC to 36oC.
Population : 50 million. Ranked Tenth amongst the densely populated states of India.
Language : Gujarati, Hindi
Culture : Ahmedabad  carries a rich heritage of culture and traditions. The city is famous for various festivals. Navratri, a festival of nine nights is celebrated with lot of fervor. During these nine days, people are seen dancing all around the city until the wee hours of morning. Another, internationally acclaimed festival of Kite flying, Uttarayan attracts professional kite flyers from all over the world. Other festivals like Holi, Id and Christmas are also celebrated with equal enthusiasm.

Diverse culture and traditions. Popular celebrations include The nine nights of Navaratri are celebrated with people performing Garba — the folk dance of Gujarat - across the city ; Uttarayan — an annual kite-flying day on 14 January. Other festivals like Holi, Id and Christmas are celebrated with enthusiasm.
Education : Gujarat is home to many prestigious higher educational institues like the Indian Institute of Management, the National Institue of Design and the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology. The city also has a major role in India’s space research by having the first centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation. Other prominent Nationally prominent scientific institutions like the Physical Research Laboratory and the Space Applications Centre are also located here.
